[Artist] LADY ANTEBELLUM : "Love Don't Live Here" MV & Lyrics

Not only is this one of the best new-artist debuts in recent memory (think Dixie Chicks in 1998), Lady Antebellum's self-titled set will go down as one of the year's best, period. The singing/songwriting combination of Hillary Scott, Charles Kelley and multi-instrumentalist Dave Haywood is fresh and mature. The trio's unique vocal arrangement—Kelley's blue-eyed soul leads on some songs, Scott effortlessly leads on others, and the two also duet—sets them apart. "Love Don't Live Here" is driven by Kelley's powerful vocal, while Scott shines on the defiant "Long Gone" and the romantic "Can't Take My Eyes off You." "All We'd Ever Need" and "I Run to You" finds the pair seamlessly intertwining in the tradition of Crystal Gayle and Gary Morris.--Billboard said.

About Lady Antebellum

In the summer of 2006, three gifted young adults walked into a house hoping to create music together—and Lady Antebellum walked out.

The sound that Hillary Scott, Charles Kelley and Dave Haywood cooked up while hanging at the Nashville-area home of Charles’ brother throughout the summer of 2006 is a unique blend that mingles classic country, 1960s R&B soulfulness and the heart-on-the-sleeve openness of 1970s singer-songwriters, all presented with a razor-sharp contemporary edge. It’s a sound that had Lady Antebellum, as the threesome dubbed itself, generating deafening buzz as one of modern country’s brightest hopes even before the release of their new self-titled debut album.

Already the trio has been nominated for “Top New Group” at the 2008 Academy of Country Music (ACM) Awards. They’ve watched the group-penned first single from Lady Antebellum, “Love Don’t Live Here Anymore,” soar up the country radio charts, while its video has become a staple on CMT and GAC. They’ve performed on the legendary Grand Ole Opry, served as the opening act on Martina McBride’s 2008 arena tour, and opened shows for Kenny Chesney, Carrie Underwood, Tim McGraw, Alan Jackson, Taylor Swift, Josh Turner, Phil Vassar, Rodney Atkins and Little Big Town. Outlets like Billboard, Country Weekly, MSN Music and the Boston Globe included Lady Antebellum among their annual shortlists of artists to watch in 2008, and Nashville Lifestyles magazine flat-out called them “the next big thing.” GAC has devoted a special, Introducing … Lady Antebellum, to tracing their brief but eventful history.

Martina summed up the general consensus of both fans and the media when she told one audience on their tour together, “You can say you saw them when.”

But it all began on that day in 2006 when Hillary Scott’s sultry alto, Charles Kelley’s gritty tenor and multi-instrumentalist/ harmony vocalist Dave Haywood’s musical overview first intersected. Hillary, whose parents are Grammy-winning country artist Linda Davis and accomplished musician Lang Scott, had met Charles at a downtown Nashville music spot—having recognized him from his MySpace page. She introduced herself, and they struck up a conversation that ended in an agreement to try writing together.

Enter Dave Haywood, Charles’ friend since they met at Riverside Middle School in Augusta, Ga., and co-writer since they attended college together at the University of Georgia. Dave had moved to Nashville in March 2006 at his pal’s suggestion, and both were staying at the home of Charles’ brother, singer-songwriter Josh Kelley. Hillary came by the house, and over the ensuing months she, Charles and Dave fell into a fruitful songwriting partnership. “We held ourselves hostage in a writing room until the early hours of the morning every night,” Dave remembers.

At first, the three weren’t sure what exactly they were writing for—but it soon became obvious that Charles and Hillary produced a combustible chemistry as a vocal duo, and that Dave’s instrumental prowess and harmony vocals filled out the picture perfectly. It helped matters a great deal that the three also sparked as friends, finding an easy balance of personalities. “I’m the analytical perfectionist, Hillary brings the silliness and the emotion, and Dave is the calming glue,” Charles explains. “Everyone balances everybody else out.”

Each also brought diverse influences into the collaboration, ranging from The Allman Brothers Band to Vince Gill, from The Eagles to Keith Urban, and from Gladys Knight to Travis Tritt. All those elements added up to something distinctly modern, yet grounded in old-fashioned gut-level passion. “It’s like a Neapolitan blend of all these flavors,” Dave says. “It’s a really great marriage, musically and lyrically.” Their old-school influences led them to choose an old-time moniker, inspired by a just-for-fun photo shoot in front of an Antebellum-style home: Lady Antebellum. (“There’s not anything too terribly meaningful behind it,” Charles admits.)

The three began posting demos on MySpace to see what kind of reaction they’d receive, and visitor feedback was immediately, overwhelmingly positive. Audience reaction was just as instantaneous when Lady Antebellum began playing small gigs around Music City. “It took on a life of its own,” marvels Dave, who booked their first shows himself. “There was no plan, we just kept churning out as many songs as we could.” Early fans soon took it upon themselves to bestow upon the trio the shorthand nickname “Lady A.”

By April 2007, the group had signed a recording contract with Capitol Nashville and begun work on their debut with the aid of megaproducer Paul Worley and award-winning songwriter Victoria Shaw. The resulting album is a vivid document of the group’s verve, versatility and vibrancy. Lady Antebellum’s 11 songs—10 of which were co-written by the band—effortlessly capture the trio’s musical interplay, emotional directness and all-for-one spirit. The chugging hit “Love Don’t Live Here” (inspired by a breakup Charles had just endured) announces their intent from its opening moments, as the chiming guitars give way to Charles’ gutsy voice, quickly seconded by Hillary’s backing vocal. Throughout the album, the two lead singers shift easily between taking the spotlight and sharing it, whether they’re trading off lines in the great tradition of country duet singers or supporting one another with sparkling harmonies.

The range of emotion on Lady Antebellum encompasses both the joyfully romantic “Love’s Lookin’ Good On You” and the desolation of the swelling ballad “All We’d Ever Need” (the very first song the trio composed together). Between those extremes is the driving “Long Gone,” a display of attitudinal assurance from Hillary; “Lookin’ for a Good Time,” an irresistible come-on from Charles; “Slow Down Sister,” a churning rocker with touches of Southern rock and Stax groove; and the pulsing “I Run to You,” in which the voices circle one another tantalizingly before melding seamlessly in the chorus. Fans drawn in by “Love Don’t Live Here” are about to discover just how much more there is to Lady Antebellum—and given the trio’s breathtaking rise to newly minted star status, it’s a sure bet that there are plenty of listeners out there waiting to do just that. “It still overwhelms me,” Hillary admits. “I’m a true believer that what’s meant to be will fall into place. When the ride starts, you’ve just got to jump on.”

With a one-of-a-kind vocal chemistry that evokes the tradition of classic country, an up-to-the-second modern sound, and a songwriting partnership that’s both timely and timeless, Lady Antebellum offers a combination that’s both shockingly fresh and as familiar as an old friend.

Review
by William Ruhlmann

Lady Antebellum is a two-guys-and-a-girl trio comprised of co-lead singers Charlie Kelley and Hillary Scott with multi-instrumentalist Dave Haywood. The group is also a songwriting collective, a Nashville rarity, co-writing most of the songs on its self-titled debut album. The three may have come up with material as good as what a publisher could have provided, although they never stray too far from formula, as reused titles like "Love Don't Live Here," "Long Gone," "I Run to You," "Home Is Where the Heart Is," and "Can't Take My Eyes Off You," suggest. Love is true or false, depending on the song, or it's forgotten in the honky tonk haze of "Lookin' for a Good Time." Kelley has a sturdy country baritone, but he sometimes sounds a bit too pleased with his own rich tone and comes off mannered. Scott, by contrast, seems to know that her voice can't match Kelley's for distinctiveness, so she works harder at coming up with striking phrasing and emotional force. The contrast gives their duets a chemistry that is the band's strongest element. Producers Victoria Shaw and Paul Worley give the record a pop/rock sound, with plenty of guitars and rhythmic punch, the better to goose a little more feeling from the singers. At this point, Lady Antebellum is a group that seems to know the basics of contemporary country but isn't ready to move beyond them or redefine them for its own ends. Still, this is a good beginning.

Lyrics

(Dave Haywood / Charles Kelley / Hillary Scott)I really felt like we found our sound on this song, and I was really proud that it became our first single since it was one of the first songs that the three of us wrote together. - Charles

Well this heart of mine has been hardened like a stone
It might take some time to get back what is gone
But I’m movin’ on and you don’t haunt my dreams
Like you did before oh when I would curse your name

Well I heard the news that you were back in town
Just passin’ through to claim your lost and found
But I’m over you and there ain’t nothin’ that
You could say or do to take what you did back
Well you got nerve to waltz right inAnd think what’s mine is yours again

Chorus

Cause I’ve been doin’ fine without you
Forgettin’ all the love we once knew
And girl I ain’t the one who slammed that door
But now you say you’ve changed your thinkin’
But I ain’t got a heart for breakin’So go and pick your bags up off my floor
Oh cause love don’t live here anymore

Well baby you can try to tell me how it is
And try to justify everything you did
But honey I’m no fool and oh I’ve been down this road
Too many times with you I think it’s best you go

Well I got one thing left to say
Is you can lay in the bed you’ve made

Repeat Chorus

Oh no that love don’t live here anymore
Oh no, no
Sugar no, no
And you don’t live here anymore
Love don’t live here anymore
And since you walked out of my door
Love don’t live here
Love don’t live here girl
Oh love don’t live here anymore

[New Album] Myriam Fares : Amazing Voice & Nice Move

Talented singer and dancer, Myriam Fares is a breath of fresh air in the music scene and the creator of her own style. With her music achievements, starting from her début album to her live performances at the most prestigious concerts, Myriam has set new standards, ones of a complete artist.

A young artist from south Lebanon, Myriam grew up in a family that respects education and believes in learning and growing. She was attracted to the arts, so she took this passion to the end.

Somewhat of a child prodigy, she took her first ballet steps at the age of five, and at the age of nine earned first place on Tele-Liban (Al Mawahib Al Saghira), in oriental dance.

Her early lessons in Classical Ballet improved her sense of music. Her multifaceted talents and abilities in the world of art astonished her teachers in school who encouraged her to improve and grow. Myriam felt the need to express her feelings through her voice that springs from deep inside her, so she registered at the National Conservatory of Music and studied musicology for four years.

At the age of sixteen Myriam participated at the Lebanese Song Festival where she won the first prize for the public Lebanese song nomination. At seventeen she participated in Studio El Fan 2000 for the District of South Lebanon and earned the first prize, not to mention the Special Certificate from Dr. Walid Gholmieh for the three Districts of South Lebanon, Beirut, and Mount Lebanon.

Still in the blush of youth, Myriam’s voice has a personal stamp that doesn't sound like anyone else's and at whatever age, with such an innocent sensuality, one that seems to be of her own invention, she is bound for success.

At the age of 20 and with the guidance of her management company – Music Is My Life, Myriam signed her first record deal with Music Master International and launched her first album on October 21, 2003 at the Virgin Mega store – Beirut. The Album witnessed immediate success and became a best seller for a debut Artist.

Wherever Myriam went through her promotional tours, she was overwhelmed by people’s response and appreciation for her art.

Myriam then launched her second album, entitled “Nadini Myriam”. It involved collaboration with Lebanese and Egyptian composers. This second album resembles Myriam and concretizes her spirit in music. Produced by Music Master, the album contains 10 tracks of various genres.

While preparing her third album, Myriam chose to shoot simultaneously yet another song from the album “Nadini Myriam”. Collaborating one more time with director Wissam Smaira, the artist pushed her professionalism and dynamism even more in this clip for the song “Wahichni eah”. Shot in Lebanon, the clip required sophisticated equipments to execute its main idea that revolves around car chasing. The team was brought from France and the result was no less than that of an international standards. The racing, the singing and the dancing had every head turned to witness what no other Arab artist had yet achieved in this part of the world!

Myriam, as young as she might be, has already proven herself and her singing talents in the music scene making her now one of the most solicited artists. As for the new clip, a definitely must see!

All throughout her career, Myriam has had a continuous and unrelenting support from her family, and her management company “Music Is My Life”.

Myriam fares' new music video.

Directed by Leila Kanaan and produced by Melody tv.
For the first time Myriam's not dancing in the video!
A montage of mysterious and delicate images shows Myriam suffering and complaining about the love triangle she's dealing with.

Kid Sister is Chicago. She makes rap music and works at a children’s clothing store slanging bibs and teething rings. Yes, her hype man J2K of Flosstradamus is her real brother, and yes that does rule. Together they took the Chi-town music scene by storm, rocking parties and causing all around dancefloor mayhem. This was followed by tours with Kanye West’s DJ A-Trak (one of her main producers and co-owner of Fool’s Gold Records). 2006 found Kid Sister selling-out shows from Chicago to Paris, including an appearance at the Pitchfork Music Festival. The media responded favorably, with features on MTV (“My Block”), Pitchfork, i-D Magazine, XLR8R, the New York Times, Billboard and the cover of URB’s “Next 1000” issue, among others.

Building on the strength of this early buzz, Kid Sister hit the studio and released two singles on Fool’s Gold (“Control” and “Pro Nails”). Frequent international touring followed throughout 2007, including an appearance at Coachella, a sold out show at SXSW, and a full US tour with her fellow labelmates. Kanye West also took notice, adding a verse to her “Pro Nails” single (which he released on his “Can’t Tell Me Nothing” mixtape) and appearing in the music video, which quickly became an MTV favorite. With her full-length debut on the way this year featuring A-Trak, Xxxchange of Spank Rock, and others on production duties, Kid Sister is taking this.

[Artist] Tay Zonday : the one of talented man

Tay Zonday’s unique voice is frequently compared to James Earl Jones, Barry White, Paul Robeson, and Brad Roberts. Hailing from Minneapolis, the twenty-five-year-old continues to experiment with diverse musical-works and voice-works that he primarily shares on the internet.
Zonday has been featured in print media such as The Los Angeles Times, The Toronto Star, Yahoo! News, E! Online, The Wall Street Journal, The Chicago Tribune’s Redeye, The Minneapolis Star Tribune, and PEOPLE Magazine. His television appearances include VH1’s "Best Week Ever," G4TV’s "Attack Of The Show," ABC’s "Jimmy Kimmel Live," CNN’s "Saturday Newsroom" and CW's "Online Nation." His television features include NBC's "Last Call with Carson Daly" and ABC's "I-Caught." He has interviewed with radio’s "The Opie & Anthony Show," "The Playboy Morning Radio Show," and dozens of other regional broadcasts in the United States, Europe, and the Pacific.

Know Him More

Tay Zonday, who is of African descent, is a student in American Studies at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities in Minneapolis, Minnesota. When asked about his "background" he remarked:

The straight-faced answer is that I'm Martian. They don't have a box for me on the census form. I'm the write-in candidate that the government leaves no space for when you have to choose your race. Seriously, is race something you choose? The whole point is that I don't choose it. It is somebody else's shortcut to my soul. So journalists ask "what's your background?" like I'm supposed to retell someone else's story about me as though it's a fact of who I am and where I come from. As long as I talk about myself in fiction that someone else wrote, I might as well write my own fiction: I'm from Mars. Most believe the story that I'm a black mulatto.

He attended the Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy between 1997 and 1998, leaving after his sophomore year. He then went on to earn his undergraduate degree at The Evergreen State College. He has said that growing up, his parents did not allow him to listen to popular music. When music downloading services such as Napster came around, he began to secretly build a small collection of popular music. Tay makes many references in interviews as to how much he loves his parents; despite the fact that many of his songs are dedicated to them, he describes himself as a "musical orphan", having no influences and not feeling particularly connected to any musicians or bands. Tay says his voice is often compared to Paul Robeson, Barry White, James Earl Jones, and Brad Roberts of the Crash Test Dummies.
His Singles

Tay's best known single is Chocolate Rain, released on YouTube in July 2007. The spread of the song is partly attributed to 4chan.Tay Zonday said,

I'm pretty sure the "Chocolate Rain" attention started as a joke at 4chan.org, an image board that is credited with starting lots of popular internet phenomena. It spread to a general audience and people started uploading spoofs. I don't know what causes people to listen to my music. If I could speak it, there would be no reason to write songs.

Other releases via YouTube, his website, and his MySpace include Internet Dream, The Only Way, Demons on the Dance Floor, Do the Can't Dance, and Say No to Nightmares. He has also performed covers of Rainbow Connection, Never Gonna Give You Up, and Edelweiss which were removed from YouTube when the artist chose to focus on original material. Tay's singles, in chronological order, are:

Demons on the Dance Floor
Love (featuring Kooby)
Never Gonna Give You Up (Rick Astley cover)
Chocolate Rain
Internet Dream
The Only Way
Do the Can't Dance
Say No to Nightmares
Someday
Too Big for You
Get It Back(Thug Remix)
Cherry Chocolate Rain
Chasing Eden
Crash into Weird
Start Me Up(karaoke version of the Rolling Stones song)

Collaboration with Dr Pepper

On 28 November 2007, Tay released a brand new video titled Cherry Chocolate Rain, which is, in his words, "a music video to celebrate Dr Pepper's new Cherry Chocolate beverage". Since its release the video has maintained a rating of 4.5 out of 5 stars

[Artist] Zooey Deschanel

Fans have been clamoring for Zooey Deschanel to record an album since she wowed audiences with her slyly cool take on the holiday standard “Baby, It’s Cold Outside” in the 2003 film “Elf.” Now there’s an official Deschanel album.

The actress collaborated with indie singer-songwriter M. Ward for their She & Him project, due March 18 from indie label Merge Records. The two were first heard on a duet of “When I Get to the Border,” a Linda and Richard Thompson cover.

Ward often sings as if he’s from another era, his booming voice resulting in a timeless echo over his piano work, and Deschanel’s vocals complement him well, gracing the song with an almost enchanted calmness. “When I Get to the Border” will appear in indie film “The Go-Getter,” which also stars Jena Malone . And for still more Deschanel, check out the album “Nighttiming” by Jason Schwartzman’s Coconut Records, available via most digital download retailers.
(Jennifer S. Altman / For The Times)

Her Bio
Zooey was born on January 17, 1980. She loves old music, vintage clothes she has a style more reminiscent of an early Hollywood movie starlet than that of most of the actresses of today. She's the daughter of Academy Award-nominated cinematographer Caleb Deschanel and actress Mary Jo Deschanel and named after the beloved J D Salinger character began to quickly rack up credits starting in 1998, making her TV debut in an episode of "Veronica's Closet".

The following year she was featured in her first film, "Mumford", a comedy about a man (Loren Dean) posing as a psychologist in a small town. Here Deschanel played a troubled young woman obsessed with models and impressed critics and the film's limited audience with
her spot-on portrayal. In 2000 she was featured in the ensemble of the long-awaited Cameron Crowe film "Almost Famous", a semi-autobiographical look at a teenage rock journalist who goes on tour with an up and coming band. Deschanel played the older and musically influential sister of the character based on Crowe (played by newcomer Patrick Fugit).

Decked out in timely miniskirts with teased hair, Deschanel was at ease in the period piece, lighting up the screen in her scenes
and proving an asset to the film. The actress was poised to breakout into the big time in 2000, lensing featured roles in the mental institution-set drama "Manic", the comedic crime caper "Big Trouble" and the romantic comedy "Beauty Loop". In 2002, Deschanel co-starred with Jennifer Aniston and Jake Gyllenhaal in the independent feature "The Good Girl" playing a drugstore cosmetics girl who indulges in some sadistic over-makeovers of her clueless customers. That same year, she was cast in the Stephan Gaghan action thriller "Abandon" and made a wildly funny guest appearance on the hit NBC sit-com "Frasier" as Roz's cynical yet seductive young cousin Jen, who nearly derails the marriage of Frasier's station manager Kenny (Tom McGowan) .

The following year, Deschanel co-starred (opposite Paul Schneider) as a boarding school virgin who returns to her small town and falls in love with the town's "lady's man" in the romantic drama feature "All The Real Girls" (2003).
The actress returned to the eyes of more mainstream audiences when she co-starred in director Jon Favreau's holiday charmer "Elf" (2003) as a comely department store Santa's helper who befriends Buddy (Will Ferrell), a human raised by North Pole elves on a journey to discover his true heritage.

[Artist] Panic At the Disco

You’ll either be incensed or elated that Panic At the Disco is this week’s MTV Artist of the Week. Or you might not even recognize them — the band that used to sound like nervous teenagers trapped in a fun house with a few synthesizers, some Ringling Brothers costumes, and a severe anxiety disorder dropped the extraneous punctuation, stopped writing songs with titles that could double as character-count-maxing Twitter updates, and completely revamped their sound.

Three years and several personal triumphs and tragedies (the death of Ryan Ross’ father, the replacement of Brent Wilson with Jon Walker and the ensuing fallout, scores of sold-out shows, a Grammy nomination) after selling more than two million copies of their debut album, A Fever You Can’t Sweat Out, Panic is now all grown up. And, for a band that’s taken a lot of s— from knee-jerk anti-emo reactionaries, they appear more determined than ever to keep on the sunny side.

Of all of the blogs, comments, articles and talk of Panic’s transformative sophomore album, Pretty. Odd.(which impressively debuted at #2 its first week out) and its similarities to the Kinks, the Beach Boys, the Beatles and ELO, perhaps the most astute and succinct observation was that of Spin magazine writer Barry Walters, who summarized the new album’s tone thusly: “Pretty. Odd. lives up to its title because it dares to be optimistically beautiful at a time when sadness and ugliness might have won them easier credibility.”

Indeed, the album bounces and shines with harmony and hope (just enough zeal without too much eye-roll-inducing zest — vigor without the nauseating vim), indicating that Panic seems to have gotten over the paranoia and angst and dared to be confidently, even outwardly, happy. And seriously, who besides the Jonas Brothers(and maybe Sean Kingston) does that these days?

And speaking of happiness minus extreme cheesiness (cautious optimism, if you will), what could be happier — or more classic rock — than a good, old-fashioned American road trip in a VW van? Watch Panic embark on the most surreal journey of their lives (which is saying a lot considering they’re from Las Vegas) in their Artist of the Week video spots all this week on MTV.

[Hotest Artist] Kat DeLuna :9 Lives Mv & DOWNLOAD

Her Bio

Kat DeLuna is the girl next door, no matter where you're from. To say she's a crossover artist is an understatement. Hip hop, R&B, merengue, pop, Spanish jazz, ballads, and dance, she does it all; in English and Spanish. Want proof? R&B superstar R. Kelly called her a "prodigy" and the famous Salvadorian singer Alvaro Torres referred to her as Selena. At age 12 she was invited by the "Queen of Merengue" Milly Quezada, to sing with her on stage in front of thousands of people, and in April of 2004 she opened for J Records recording artist Cassidy as part of the all Latino girl group Coquette. All this, and KAT is only 19 years old.

Despite her success, things haven't always come easy for KAT. Shortly after Kat Emperatriz De Luna and her family moved from the Bronx to the Dominican Republic, where she was raised in poverty. KAT spent her time listening to Aretha Franklin and Billie Holiday records, which she imitated daily on her karaoke machine.

Friends and family recognized her talent at an early age, but it wasn't until moving back to the US that KAT realized her potential as a singer. With that goal in mind at age 14, KAT was accepted to the New Jersey School of the Performing Arts. As a freshman, she scoured the pages of The Village Voice for auditions. KAT auditioned endlessly for a chance to showcase her undeniable talent and finally received a call for an all girl group. KAT recognized that music was missing a Latin flavor. She sought to fill this void and formed the first Latina, Hip Hop/R&B group: Coquette. This does not only display KATs ability to tap into her culture background to differentiate herself in the industry, but also her business acumen.

While working with Coquette KAT continued to search for opportunities to lead her towards her goal as a performer. At age15, KAT entered a Coca-Cola sponsored karaoke competition. Her version of I Will Always Love You took first place. It was through this competition that she met legendary Cuban salsa singer Rey Ruiz. Ruiz gave KAT advice that she carries with her today. "He told me, nobody knows you better than you do, and that nobody can help you if you can't help yourself," says KAT. With this, KAT began writing her own music and has continued to do so since.

Today, KAT is signed to GMB Music Group/Epic Recoreds as a solo artist and is hard at work in the studio every day. In addition to her great recording work ethic, her days are filled with vocal classes, dance lessons, and the gym. With the attitude that she'll do whatever it takes to make it, KATs hard work is already beginning to pay off.
It will not be too long until KATs presence is felt by music listeners around the globe. Currently, GMB/Epic is in the process of launching a full promotional campaign for KATs first single: "Dale Duro!" ft Jae Millz & Chaka Dee, a definite club banger, is gaining heavy rotation in New York City's nightclubs and is about to invade KAT's new hometown Miami, FL. KAT is a rare find in that she is the complete package. KAT is a quadruple threat with her dancing, singing, writing abilities and the ideal image, which makes it effortless for her to connect with her audience. KAT has the work ethic, maturity, and the crossover appeal necessary to not only make it in this hard business, but to do so on an international level.

This her latet Album: 9 Lives
(I think she's like a CAT)

9 Lives Review

With four years of opera training behind her, it's clear that 19-year-old pop singer Kat DeLuna -- who was born in the Bronx, spent several years in Santo Domingo, and eventually returned to the U.S. -- wasn't signed merely on the basis of her looks and passable ability to carry a tune. Her debut, 9 Lives , features credible streaks of dancehall, Latin pop, Euro-pop, modern R&B, freestyle and yes, (albeit to a much lesser extent) opera as well. To DeLuna (who co-wrote everything) and her producer RedOne's credit, the album never quite sounds calculated or unnatural. While appealing multicultural/genre-crossing pop is nothing new, and a few tracks here are boilerplate and lack bite, DeLuna's controlled exuberance, ability to adapt to numerous styles, and considerable vocal ability keep it all afloat. The week the album was rel , had already been on the Hot 100 chart for two months, and it's the album's definite center, though a handful of potential singles could break the mainstream pop singles chart while approaching the tops of the dance, R&B, and Latin charts. On the surface, it might seem like she's an exceptionally talented singer who happened to strike at the right time with the right sound, but the majority of 9 Lives makes it known that she should be around for some time. ~ Andy Kellman, All Music Guide

[New Artist] Alison Sudol:A Fine Frenzy

A Fine Frenzy is the music of 21 year-old Alison Sudol.

Born in Seattle to dramatic-arts teacher parents, Alison moved to Los Angeles at the age five. With her newly single mother, Alison moved frequently around the city. She developed a strong love for the fantastic literary worlds of CS Lewis, EB White, Lewis Carroll and Charles Dickens, while becoming a passionate author in her own right.

Alison also immersed herself in classical music, Motown, Aretha Franklin, swing bands, Ella Fitzgerald, Elton John, Louis Armstrong, the Beatles, Technicolor movies and classic 1950’s television.
After teaching herself to play piano, Alison increasingly invested her internal narratives into song form. She found solace in the melodic melancholia of new global British bands Aqualung, Radiohead, Coldplay and Keane, etc... She was also moved by the diatonic minimalism of Philip Glass and the transportive allure of Icelandic music (Bjork, Sigur Ros.) Inspired, Alison developed the sound of A Fine Frenzy - hypnotic piano arrangements under classic American melody fused into irresistible, atmospheric songs with the power to reach around the world.

Review By: Patrick Valenzuela

Alison Sudol has signed a major label record deal and drawn the attention of VH1, but she's no sellout.
Sudol is the centerpiece of A Fine Frenzy, a musical entity built to express her feelings through song. Her debut album, One Cell In The Sea, was recently released on mega-label Virgin Records to very positive feedback.
VH1 has called Sudol one of the artists that "You Oughta Know" about. The channel's Web site lists her music as "moody ballads from a flame-haired fantasy lover." While descriptive, Sudol isn't quite sure if it's the best description.
"You know, I'm flattered, it makes me sound very intense," Sudol said. "It leaves out the side of myself where I walk into walls."
The description does have some basis. Sudol is indeed a "flame-haired" woman creating heartfelt ballads at the age of 22. One song, "Almost Lover," is a slow-paced number that recounts Sudol's story of love that didn't come to be. Calling her a "fantasy lover" may not be so far from the truth.
"Goodbye my almost lover/ Goodbye my hopeless dream," Sudol sings in the track, over a beautiful piano arrangement.
Piano plays a central role in A Fine Frenzy, which is a given considering Sudol's love for the instrument. She is primarily self-trained with the exception of a few childhood lessons and sessions with a songwriter.
Another noticeable quality of A Fine Frenzy is lyrical imagery of nature and the outdoors. While some deep explanation of the imagery may be expected, it's very simple: Sudol loves the "untouched beauty" of nature
"I'm obsessed with nature and animals," Sudol said. "Whenever I think of peace, I think of things in nature."
It may be that music fans are turned off by A Fine Frenzy because she is associated with Virgin Records. Sudol encourages people to think otherwise.
"It's just such a fantastic label," she said. "They've been so supportive of me and what I've wanted to do."
Sudol said she was once turned off by the idea of major record labels. Rumors of strict control and manipulation are rampant among music fans. While those notions are true in some cases, Sudol's experiences with Virgin have changed her mind.
"Being well-known does not mean you're selling out," she said. "I bet a lot of indie artists wish they had that support."
She also noted that artists like Radiohead, Interpol and the Beastie Boys all have gained popularity on major labels without compromise.
"I want to dispel the image that it's all manufactured crap," she said.
A nice song to lisent whene u have a bad or sad day

[Chart] Danity Kane tops pop chart

NEW YORK (Billboard) - Danity Kane, a prefabricated MTV girl group, scored its second consecutive No. 1 on the U.S. album chart Wednesday, while pop-soul duo Gnarls Barkley's latest release entered at a disappointing No. 18 after being rushed out three weeks ahead of schedule.

Danity Kane's "Welcome to the Dollhouse" sold 236,192 copies in the week ended March 23, according to Nielsen SoundScan. It ranks as the second-biggest opening of the year, behind the 375,000-unit start for Jack Johnson's "Sleep Through the Static" in February.

Perhaps more incredibly, at a time when most artists are routinely suffering big sales drops amid a decadelong slump in the music industry, "Welcome to the Dollhouse" managed to sell about 2,000 copies more than Danity Kane's 2006 self-titled debut. The debut has sold 926,000 copies to date.

The MTV "Making the Band 3" troupe is signed to Sean "Diddy" Combs' Bad Boy imprint. It's a good day for Combs. The Los Angeles Times said it is reviewing a recent story linking the hip-hop mogul to the 1994 shooting of rapper Tupac Shakur, amid an online report that the paper may have relied on forged FBI documents. Combs strongly denied any involvement in the shooting.

The Grammy-winning Gnarls Barkley's second album, "The Odd Couple," sold 31,000 copies for its No. 18 start. Its 2006 debut, "St. Elsewhere," opened at No. 20 and peaked at No. 4 as the single "Crazy" turned into a monster hit. "St. Elsewhere" has sold 1.4 million copies to date.

"The Odd Couple" was rushed out last Tuesday, three weeks earlier than planned, likely because of an early leak on the Internet; online buyers accounted for 85% of the sales. A spokeswoman from the group's Atlantic Records label did not respond to an email seeking comment.

Elsewhere, the multi-artist "NOW 27" compilation held steady at No. 2 with 170,000 copies in its second week. Last week's champ, Rick Ross' "Trilla," fell to No. 3 with 90,000.

Rookie rapper Flo Rida may have recently topped Billboard's Hot 100 singles chart for a massive 10 weeks with "Low," but his debut album "Mail on Sunday" bowed at No. 4 with a relatively modest 86,000 copies. By contrast, "Low" has sold 3.3 million downloads since its November release, the biggest selling digital download of all time.

Johnson's "Static" slipped one to No. 5 with 67,000 in its seventh week. Sales to date stand at 939,000 copies.

Miley Cyrus' Disney double-disc "Hannah Montana 2 (Soundtrack)/Meet Miley Cyrus" soared 10 to No. 6 with 61,000. Additionally, her "The Best of Both Worlds Concert" set held at No. 10 with 51,000.

Snoop Dogg's "Ego Trippin"' slid four to No. 7 with 57,000. Blender magazine cover girl Taylor Swift's self-titled album jumped four to No. 8, also with 57,000.

Three weeks after it debuted at No. 1, Janet Jackson's "Discipline" now resides at No. 17. Its sales to date stand at about 310,000 copies; at the same point in its cycle, her previous release "20 Y.O." had sold 443,000 copies. The 2006 disc was considered a big disappointment.

Album sales, boosted by the Easter holiday, rose 11.3% over the prior week to 8.83 million units, but were down 1.1% compared to the same week in 2007.

[NEW Artist] YELLE :when Lily Allen meet M.I.A. & Nelly Furtado!

Yelle(the last “e” is silent) is not just another hipster chick in leg warmers and lamé (even though she’s partial both). The French electro hip-pop tart’s got the blogosphere appropriately atwitter over her spazzy live performances, aerobics-inspired videos and intentionally low-budget (think cable-access) ’80s steez, despite the fact that she hasn’t even released an album in the States yet.

When, like us, you don’t speak French, Yelle — think Lily Allen’s snark meets M.I.A.’s wardrobe meets Nelly Furtado’s flirt factor — who’s got the makings of a modern-day European Blondie, sounds like she’s just engaging in universal boy-issue lament set to hyper computerized blips and beeps and Casio beats.

But beneath the retro patina and language barrier lay raunchy, NC-17 lyrics about matters of… “size,” (zut alors!), sex toys, and girl-on-girl action, coated with a sweet gloss of poppy saccharine.

After opening for Mika, and dropping her French debut,Pop-Up, she’s about to release her album stateside and go from music blog footnote to center stage when she plays Coachella this spring.
