HOTEST Album : The Renaissance from Q-Tip

Q-Tip - The Renaissance

While 1999’s Amplified was the last full album that Q-Tip actually released, it certainly wasn’t the last one he made. His career since then has been a harsh lesson in Industry Rule #4080 with three entire albums that were reduced to bootleg collectors items and two random singles that never actually made it to a real LP.
Ultimately, the check-writers didn’t feel that Q-Tip’s "Abstract" art projects would meet the expectations of fans who were still looking for more Tribe and he struggled to get his hard work into anyone’s hands. With the history leading up to it,
The Renaissance could have easily become a train wreck had Tip chosen to compromise his artistic vision simply for the sake of getting an album in stores. Those familiar with any of his false starts might initially assume that he’s done just that but thankfully, the return to traditional Hip Hop doesn't come off like a compromise with Universal he’s apparently legitimately interested in expressing himself through rhyme again."Gettin' Up" is no bait-and-switch single and the rest of The Renaissance generally follows suit. The clean, well-edited 12-song lineup doesn’t leave him much room to get lost in his own imagination so the overall effect leaves the intended impression. Because Q-Tip still approaches each track with a desire to innovate, the music feels new even while nodding to his roots. The captivating and radiant “You” could have been released at any point in Tip’s career and still felt natural and relevant. Resisting the temptation to wax about how "the game done changed," Tip takes the next step and actually demonstrates how the music can move forward without losing what was great about the past. “Life is Better” gives love to Ludacris [click to read] and Lil Wayne as sincerely as Dana Dane and Schoolly D.
The only slight misstep is “ManWomanBoogie” with Amanda Diva [click to read], but it shuffles around something interesting even if it never quite settles there.Q-Tip’s latest actually manages to find the intersection of the desires of the artist, the office and the fans. It is important to point out, however, that while the spirit of Tribe still lingers in this reincarnation of The Abstract, it's quite a bit more like The Love Movement than Midnight Marauders. Before you jump to any conclusions though, remember that time has helped thaw that album's undeservedly icy reception disregarding The Renaissance when you don’t hear “Scenario 2008” will only make you feel silly when you finally learn to appreciate it in 2018.

Enrique Iglesias - Away Song NEW Released song "Greatest Hits" album

"Away" is a pop song from singer Enrique Iglesias. It is the first single from his greatest hits album "Greatest Hits". The song features Sean Garrett and is directed by Anthony Mandler, the same guy who helped making Rihanna's "Rehab" music video.
Enrique, about the album: "The new songs on this album add a new flavour to my sound; 'Away' has got, like, an urban/pop ballad sound to it, and 'Takin' Back My Love' sounds like a real Euro pop/dance kinda thing, so I'm still playing around with my sound and style. I just hope my fans continue to enjoy what I'm prepared to give them -- I wanna give them everything."

The Last Shadow Puppets - My Mistakes Were Made For You Music Video

The Last Shadow Puppets release their new single 'My Mistakes Were Made For You' on Monday the 20th of October 2008. Taken from their Mercury nominated 'The Age Of The Understatement' album, 'My Mistakes Were Made For You' features the London Metropolitan Orchestra, conducted by Owen Pallet.

The video for 'My Mistakes Were Made For You' was shot at Pinewood studios and directed by Richard Ayoade. It shows the leather-clad duo in the forest amidst fog and the tailights of a crashed car.

The Last Shadow Puppets’ Understatement

Cinematic maneuvers in my brain and wild horses. Widescreen audio. Rumbling drums. Gainsbourg-like orchestrations. Room to wander. Ecstatic backing voices. The London touch of symphonia. Bigger drums. Offenders.

I don’t think anyone would have expected these collected guys, known as The Last Shadow Puppets, to produce a work like The Age Of the Understatement. Although on second thought, maybe not based upon the hyperkinetics of The Arctic Monkeys. But hey, what about their clever songs and witty lyrics?
The boys with different strategies
Talking about an understatement
Only the truth they reckon they hold

The Feeling : ‘Without You’ Music Video ! From The Brilliant Band

The Feeling some airplay here on Killed By The Video Star, but as none of you seemed to notice, or care, I thought I’d try again. I warn you, if I get no comments this time, I’ll keep plugging their videos until someone takes notice!

This is the second song from their second album, called Without You, and it’s a slice of Indie Pop heaven that deserves to get listened to by more ears than it currently is.
The song is a simple love song, about how badly you miss people when you are away from them. It’s like everything you do may be brilliant, except in the back of your head, your partner isn’t there with you to share the moment.

I suspect its a personal song from the experience of lead singer Dan Gillespie Sells, who has to leave his partner every time he goes touring with the group.

The video sums up these feelings by putting Dan in the role of an astronaut, in what looks like the old Soviet Union. We get to see him being prepared for space, before having his picture taken with his parents and captain.

I love the way the video is shot, starting and ending with a close up of Gillespie Sells’ eyes as he ponders life without the people he loves as he ventures in to space.

It looks like the video was done in just two shots, with a pan out, and a pan back in. You’ll notice also that the other band members all have a cameo part to play.

The song may be cheesy, and pure Pop, but who cares, it’s also beautifully sung, and tugs at the heartstrings. The video is innovative, and well done too.

THE brilliant thing about The Feeling is that they know how to make poppy tunes which seem, on first listen, insubstantial.

But this new single is actually about the Virginia Tech shootings. With a great hook and a message to boot.

Sure, it sounds a bit preachy. But, it's testament that there is so much more to this brilliant band than a great chorus and twee lyrics.

[Artist] N.E.R.D.:Seeing Sound Album

Check your iPod. If you don’t have any N.E.R.D. tracks (and if that’s true, then you need to get on it, so read on to avoid further pitying), then dollars to donuts, you’ve got something they’ve applied their Midas touch to as the Neptunes — their production operation. Madonna and Britney, Ludacris, Snoop, and Kanye — they’re currently backing him on his much-lauded Glow In the Dark tour. Hell, they’ve even remixed Sade.
Or, put another way: open up the Billboard charts, close your eyes and randomly point to an artist. Now open them. There’s an excellent chance the brain trust behind N.E.R.D. produced, remixed or will remix and/or produce that artist, taking already solid material to a new dimension you didn’t know existed but suddenly need a whole lot more of — the flavor of dream you’re not sure is the good or bad type, but you know it tastes better than being awake.
N.E.R.D. is Pharrell Williams, Chad Hugo and Shae Haley. Like a giant squid fused with a set of conjoined octopus twins, the end result of N.E.R.D.’s time spent behind the controls sounds like they’ve got a lot more than just six hands and 30 fingers on deck. And the tracks snap, crackle and pop with the hyperstimulated sizzle of sticking all 30 into 30 different electrical sockets.
“With the Neptunes,” N.E.R.D.’s Chad Hugo told Hamptonroads.com, “we have that ability to collaborate with artists, and they have their vision and we’re there to paint different scenarios. As N.E.R.D., what we put out is directly from our brains to the stage. We’re in our own shoes. We have the ability to be ourselves.” Right. Which is why they’re about to drop their third N.E.R.D. album, Seeing Sounds, (out tomorrow), named for the neurological phenomenon synesthesia, where your senses basically swap shoes for the day. The album’s a celebration of their genre-resistant, chopped-and-screwed, tilted-and-twisted sound, complete with that hypnotic sawtooth bass swagger, dirty-ass drumming, superfunked, sexed-up, spaced-out blips, beeps and bumps.
We always suspected these guys saw things we don’t. Turns out they see everything we don’t. And with N.E.R.D. — forever the sickest and coolest kids you know — piloting their musical spacecraft into complete sensory overload, we get to explore a whole new galaxy of songs, sounds and sights we’d never otherwise hear… or taste.
Watch N.E.R.D.’s new video, “Everyone Nose (All the Girls Standing In Line for the Bathroom),” plus a few all-time N.E.R.D. classics, check out their MTV.com live peformances, watch an exclusive Buzzworthy interview with the Va Bee three, watch their exclusive Artist of the Week videos — including performance clips shot at Special Sauce in Bayshore, New York — and road trip clips, featuring Donnell Rawlings (Ashy Larry of Chappelle’s Show.)

After Pharrell Williams's pedestrian solo debut and some lacklustre production work (Gwen Stefani's The Sweet Escape), it seemed as though Williams and his Neptunes/N.E.R.D partner Chad Hugo had lost their vice-like grip on inventive pop. Happily, their new album suggests a thrilling second act. Flanked by fellow bandmember Shay Haley, they are again pushing the boundaries of the popular song. From Everybody Nose, a horn-looped look at Hollywood's re-infatuation with cocaine, to the drum'n'bass-meets-baile-funk of Spaz, this album is a superb reminder of why we fell in love with them in the first place.

William Joseph : Beyond

Josh Groban, Michael BublĂ© and William Joseph have many things in common—they are young, they are not your typical music artists, and they are shepherded in their careers by illustrious producer David Foster. Groban and BublĂ© have become major stars; Joseph is on his way. With his second major-label album, Beyond, the inventive, impassioned pianist and songwriter reaches beyond the boundaries of the contemporary instrumental genre to touch a new generation.

biography

The greatest music comes from within.

In the case of the extraordinary young piano virtuoso William Joseph, that statement applies both literally and figuratively.

This twenty-five year old Phoenix, Arizona native has displayed an innate affinity and enduring love for his instrument virtually from the cradle. Matched with a dedication and discipline that has given polish and precision to his passion, William Joseph has indeed reached deep within to discover and nurture his spectacular gift.

It’s a gift gloriously displayed on Within, William Joseph’s dazzling debut album on 143/Reprise Records. Highlighting eleven tracks that deftly demonstrate his exceptional range and versatility, Within was produced by the legendary artist, songwriter, producer and talent scout David Foster.

And, if Foster’s track record with the likes of Josh Groban, Michel BublĂ© and Renee Olstead are any indication, William Joseph is indeed poised for worldwide acclaim with the release of Within. Foster’s unerring instinct for deeply felt and consummately crafted music is, in short, about to launch another young artist on a promising musical career, and it was the producer himself who aptly summed up the appeal of this brilliant newcomer, stating simply, “I love his musicality, his writing and the magic he weaves on the piano. He has a unique gift the whole world should hear.”

It’s a sentiment that is quickly becoming a reality, as William Joseph has brought his extraordinary virtuosity to an ever wider and more appreciative audience. Since completing work on Within, Joseph has been much in-demand for a number of high profile musical events, most notably an opening slot on the recent summer tour of baritone sensation and 143 Records’ label mate, Josh Groban. A series of sold out dates were spotlighted with an acclaimed two-night stand at the Greek Theater in Los Angeles along with appearances throughout the U.S. and Canada.

On a more intimate note, Joseph has recently been center stage for a string of prestigious celebrity events, including benefits for both the Malibu Boys & Girls Club and the Los Angeles Boys & Girls Club hosted by, respectively, Mel Gibson and California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger; charity performances for both Carousel of Hope and City of Hearts, during which he shared the stage with, among others, Beyoncé, Faith Hill and Josh Groban; a special evening honoring sports greats Andre Agassi, Tiger Woods and Oscar De La Hoya with all-star line-ups spotlighting India.Arie, Josh Groban, Faith Hill, Tim McGraw, Mario Lopez, Michael Bublé and others as well as special celebrations for California first lady Maria Shriver and Warner Bros. Records Chairman Tom Whalley.

It’s a promising launch for an artist who, at age eight, had already garnered a full ride music scholarship that would allow him to study classical piano with the likes of the acclaimed Russian instructor Stella Saperstein.

Yet even while immersed in such rarified realms, Joseph’s eclectic musical tastes prompted him to sample a wide array of styles and sensibilities. A natural born performer, he had songwriting ambitions and a love for cinematic scoring that could give full range to his richly textured and subtly nuanced skills. At sixteen, he penned the theme song for the hometown hockey team, The Phoenix Coyotes, and subsequently the moving anthem “Seeds Of Hope,” which helped to draw international attention to the Kosovo refugee crisis.

After taking a break from music in his late teens, Joseph returned to active performing, and within a few years had garnered a loyal local following thanks to the release of two independent albums and an extensive concert itinerary.

It was in 2003 that the young artist’s unique musical ability came to the attention of David Foster, in Phoenix for a charity event honoring Muhammad Ali. “I knew where he was going to be,” recounts Joseph, “so I just showed up and introduced myself. It was in the middle of a rehearsal, with all the musicians on stage and something promoted me to ask him if I could sit down at his piano and play a song.”

The original composition, which would later appear as the title track to his major label debut, stopped Foster in his tracks. “He sat down and played this beautiful piece magnificently and to perfection,” he remembers. “I was so impressed I asked him if he would perform that evening. A standing ovation later and I knew I had to work with him.”
That work got underway almost immediately with Foster and Joseph working closely together to select a repertoire that would truly represent the range and dynamism of the young pianist.

“Some of the material, like ‘Ave Maria” I’d been playing since I was a kid,” Joseph explains. “Others, like ‘Stella’s Theme’ and ‘Grace’ I co-wrote with David. It was a great honor for me, having grown up loving his music, but what I appreciated most was his willingness to try new things.”

Included in that later category are distinctive renditions of Paul Simon’s “Homeward Bound” and the total reinvention of such varied material as Kansas’ “Dust In The Wind,” Led Zeppelin’s “Kashmir,” and “Butterflies And Hurricanes” by UK rock innovators Muse.
“I had huge expectations going into the studio with David,” enthuses Joseph, “and they were hugely exceeded. I really feel as if we got to the heart of my music; how different styles can be brought together to create something greater than the sum of its parts.”

All of which goes to prove that what’s within a true artist will always find a way to express itself, literally and figuratively.
“I love William’s musicality, his writing and the magic he weaves on the piano. He has a unique gift the whole world should hear.”

[New MV] Nelly feat. Fergie : Party People

New song frum Nelly off his new album Brass Knuckles...

The album will feature fourteen tracks as reported by USA Today.Nelly explained the reasoning for the title as "the best way" he can explain "how hard it's going to hit you."

Nelly has a range of featured guests lined up for Brass Knuckles, with appearances from Akon, Ashanti, Avery Storm, Babyface, Chuck D, Ciara, Fergie, LL Cool J, Lil Wayne, Pimp C, Rick Ross, Snoop Dogg, St. Lunatics, T.I. and Usher all confirmed.Jermaine Dupri also stated possibilities of hopeful collaborations with Bruce Springsteen, Mariah Carey and Janet Jackson. Dupri gave a look into the two collaborations, one being Nelly, Carey and Jackson all appearing on the same track, in which he stated Nelly has laid the following blueprint:

Nelly's got a crazy collaboration he's trying to put together, which is him, Janet and Mariah Carey all on one song...That's what he wants. If he could convince them to do it, it would be crazy. He wants Janet to rap a 16-bar verse, he wants Mariah to sing the hook and he's gonna do two verses. He has it all planned out. You ask him about it! This is what he wants; he's 100-percent deadlocked into it. He went on to speak about the possibility of the Springsteen collaboration and that two of his own tracks will appear on the album,

Unfortunately for Nelly he was unable to get to collaborate with Springsteen as he was too busy around the world, though he if still hopefull to collaborate with him on a future album, or even a repackage of Brass Knuckles On March 30, Nelly told hiphopdx.com that "the album would feature a handful of new producers".

The first single was believed to be "Cut It Out" which features the late Pimp C and Sean P, of YoungBloodZ, but was later confirmed to be "Wadsyaname," which was released digitally on August 21, 2007. Because of pushed release dates from October 16 and on, the official first single has been changed to Party People. Nelly has recently recorded the Jermaine Dupri produced track "Stepped On My Js" featuring Ciara. Nelly describes the song as "'Air Force Ones' and 'Grillz' on steroids."

[Artist] Trina : Still Da Baddest

Trina can actually rap. No, no come back. I’m not going crazy and you don’t have to revoke my hip-hop card but I meant what I said. Now I don’t mean that WHAT she raps about is noteworthy nine times out of ten, but if you can get past that, she has a solid flow and a passionate voice, albeit one that takes a little getting used to.

Now her last album, Glamorest Life (that’s not a spelling error either) was pretty bad to be honest. There was some good production but ultimately the album suffered from repetitive and predictable content that wasn’t terribly interesting either. So, why would I bother listening to Still Da Baddest? Well, I heard the lead single and was impressed with the production as well as the fact that Trina wasn’t rapping about how good her sex game is. I also don’t think that female rappers get enough respect in today’s hip-hop world. Frankly, a lot of them don’t deserve it because rapping about how many ways you can, uh, “do it” with someone isn’t very engaging to a wide audience and many are put off by how ‘in your face’ (no pun intended…well maybe a little) it can be.

When the opportunity came around to review this then, I didn’t exactly jump at the chance, but I was interested enough to give this a listen. Read on, I think you’ll be surprised.
Tracks

1. Intro
2. Still Da Baddest
3. Killing You Hoes
4. Single Again
5. Look Back At Me Ft. Killer Mike
6. I Got A Thang For You Ft. Keyshia Cole
7. I Got A Bottle Ft. Missy Elliott
8. Wish I Never Met You Ft. Shonie
9. Clear It Out
10. Stop Traffic Ft. Pitbull
11. Phone Sexxx Ft. Qwote
12. Hot Commodity Ft. Rick Ross

After the brief “Intro”, “Still Da Baddest” kicks off the album in an impressive fashion. Serving as an “I’m back, whether you like it or not!” track, Trina proves she can actually rap serving up some decent braggadocio over some triumphant production.

The lead single, “Single Again”, with some catchy production care of J-Roc, sees Trina unleash an aggressive break-up track. It’s another example of how Trina can actually rap as she changes her delivery and flow each verse to better reflect the lyrical content. Christina Milian was rumored to be singing the hook originally, but for whatever reason, Trina herself eventually sung the hook. Many are speculating that this track is an ode to the relationship that she and Lil Wayne shared.

Interestingly enough, the better tracks on this album follow in a similar vein. Content-wise, “Wish I Never Met You” is quite similar although there’s more regret within the song than “Single Again”. The somber guitar licks are complimented by Shonie’s hook work as the two lament a relationship that went awry. On the other side of things, you have “I Got A Thang For You” which plays out as a slightly shyer, yet grown ‘I got a crush on you’ track and is boosted by a low-key yet nevertheless strong, vocal performance by Keyshia Cole.

“Phone Sexxx” isn’t as bad as I expected as Qwote really does have an impressive singing voice and the beat has a somewhat Asian-flavor to it with the string synths in the background. I suppose it comes off better than other sex rap tracks as it’s somewhat imaginative without being unnecessarily graphic. However, I’m pretty sure I’m going to be in the minority praising this track.

The problem with many of the other tracks is that whilst they’re bad, there’s nothing terribly special about them. “I Got A Bottle” whilst somewhat humorous, is dragged down by an irritating hook and average beat. Similarly, “Hot Commodity” whilst backed by some great production is brought down a little by the sex rap lyrics and a ‘just there’ guest appearance by Rick Ross.

Having said that though, there are two tracks that are bad, but for different reasons. “Look Back At Me” is unlistenable as the sex rap is so over the top and unashamed I think it would make even the hardiest (no pun intended there, honest) porn star blush. As the most of the album manages to stay away from the sex rap, this really acts as a blemish on an otherwise listenable album. It’s also the longest track with the most uninspired production, coming off as a poor-man’s “Whisper Song”. The other track, “Stop Traffic” features equally uninspired production but is completely killed by Pitbull’s hook that even a two year old with no grasp of the English language would find pathetic:

”Green, mean go. Yellow mean slow. Red mean stop, now drop now roll. Girl you got an ass, stop traffic like a red. Girl you got an ass, stop traffic like a red”

Pitbull ladies and gentlemen, reminding you of how a traffic light works.

[ Review] Julie Ocean : Long Gone And Nearly There

The very idea of Julie Ocean -- that is, roughly, Velocity Girl + Glo-worm + Swiz = awesome rock band -- is so enticing that the contrarian in us almost hoped that it didn't work. But the relatively new quartet succeeds marvelously, as evidenced by the exuberant and winsome indie pop on Long Gone And Nearly There. The band's sunny sounds most obviously reference predecessor Velocity Girl, whose immensely powerful second single "My Forgotten Favorite" (which easily places among our 10 favorite songs) gave way to more traditional pop efforts further along the arc of the '90s act's career. The guitar tremelo that opens and closes Julie Ocean's anthemic "Here Comes Danny" in particular reminds us of Velocity Girl. Under the gloss, smile and "woo oohs" of "Looking At Me/Looking At Your" and "My Revenge" pulses the caffeinated energy -- and certainly the conciseness -- of mighty late '80s hardcore act Swiz, which counted among its members Julie Ocean drummer Alex Daniels.

But the overarching element of Julie Ocean's music -- broad, bright melodies delivered with an irresistible guitar-pop fizz -- overshadows the vestigial artifacts of those predecessors. While nothing on Long Gone And Nearly There is overdone, just about everything leaves you wanting more. The set carries only two songs over three minutes in length, and the whole of the record's 10 tracks transpires in less than a half an hour, so you will be restarting Long Gone about as often as you would flip a vinyl record. We estimate conservatively that we've listened to this record 40 times since receiving it, and we have little doubt that our experience won't be unique once Long Gone And Nearly There hits racks next month. Philadelphia's Transit Of Venus label releases the record May 29. You can stream it in its entirety at Last.FM right now.

[Artist] Atmosphere :When Life Gives You Lemons, MV & Download

Full Bio

Atmosphere is a hip-hop group from Minneapolis that centers around rapper Slug (aka Sean Daley). The son of a black father and a white mother who divorced when he was a teenager, Slug became entranced with hip-hop, graffiti, and breakdancing, and formed the Rhyme Sayers Collective with two high school friends -- Siddiq Ali (Stress) and Derek Turner (Spawn). After some early gigs as Urban Atmosphere, where Slug DJed behind Spawn's rhyming, the pair hooked up with producer Ant (Anthony Davis), as well as like-minded locals such as MC Musab, Mr. Gene Poole, and the Abstract Pack, forming an underground hip-hop clique dedicated to freestyling, clever and complex lyrics, and anti-gangsta positivity. In 1998, Atmosphere released its debut album, Overcast!, which quickly became regarded as an underground hip-hop classic thanks to Slug's deeply personal, poetic musings, as well as Ant's bare-bones -- but inventive -- production. The next Atmosphere album was titled Sad Clown Bad Dub II, a 2000 set originally sold while the group was on tour. (Now out of print, it's a highly sought-after collector's item). A year later, the group released Lucy Ford: The Atmosphere EP's, a collection of three EPs built around the theme of Slug's complicated relationship with his ex-girlfriend, the lost love of his life. The group has toured consistently, both at home and overseas; while Ant usually doesn't accompany the group on the road, Mr. Dibbs of the group 1200 Hobos often joins in behind the turntables and Slug is usually assisted on the mic by young rappers like the teenaged Eyedea. In June 2002, the group -- down to the duo of Slug and Ant -- unleashed God Loves Ugly, an 18-track effort that returned to previous themes ("F*@k You Lucy"), but also contained the group's most pop-friendly single to date, "Modern Man's Hustle." By this time indie rap superstars, Atmosphere returned with their fourth album, Seven's Travels, in 2003, followed two years later by You Can't Imagine How Much Fun We're Having. ~ Dan LeRoy, All Music Guide

[Hotest Artist] Kat DeLuna :9 Lives Mv & DOWNLOAD

Her Bio

Kat DeLuna is the girl next door, no matter where you're from. To say she's a crossover artist is an understatement. Hip hop, R&B, merengue, pop, Spanish jazz, ballads, and dance, she does it all; in English and Spanish. Want proof? R&B superstar R. Kelly called her a "prodigy" and the famous Salvadorian singer Alvaro Torres referred to her as Selena. At age 12 she was invited by the "Queen of Merengue" Milly Quezada, to sing with her on stage in front of thousands of people, and in April of 2004 she opened for J Records recording artist Cassidy as part of the all Latino girl group Coquette. All this, and KAT is only 19 years old.

Despite her success, things haven't always come easy for KAT. Shortly after Kat Emperatriz De Luna and her family moved from the Bronx to the Dominican Republic, where she was raised in poverty. KAT spent her time listening to Aretha Franklin and Billie Holiday records, which she imitated daily on her karaoke machine.

Friends and family recognized her talent at an early age, but it wasn't until moving back to the US that KAT realized her potential as a singer. With that goal in mind at age 14, KAT was accepted to the New Jersey School of the Performing Arts. As a freshman, she scoured the pages of The Village Voice for auditions. KAT auditioned endlessly for a chance to showcase her undeniable talent and finally received a call for an all girl group. KAT recognized that music was missing a Latin flavor. She sought to fill this void and formed the first Latina, Hip Hop/R&B group: Coquette. This does not only display KATs ability to tap into her culture background to differentiate herself in the industry, but also her business acumen.

While working with Coquette KAT continued to search for opportunities to lead her towards her goal as a performer. At age15, KAT entered a Coca-Cola sponsored karaoke competition. Her version of I Will Always Love You took first place. It was through this competition that she met legendary Cuban salsa singer Rey Ruiz. Ruiz gave KAT advice that she carries with her today. "He told me, nobody knows you better than you do, and that nobody can help you if you can't help yourself," says KAT. With this, KAT began writing her own music and has continued to do so since.

Today, KAT is signed to GMB Music Group/Epic Recoreds as a solo artist and is hard at work in the studio every day. In addition to her great recording work ethic, her days are filled with vocal classes, dance lessons, and the gym. With the attitude that she'll do whatever it takes to make it, KATs hard work is already beginning to pay off.
It will not be too long until KATs presence is felt by music listeners around the globe. Currently, GMB/Epic is in the process of launching a full promotional campaign for KATs first single: "Dale Duro!" ft Jae Millz & Chaka Dee, a definite club banger, is gaining heavy rotation in New York City's nightclubs and is about to invade KAT's new hometown Miami, FL. KAT is a rare find in that she is the complete package. KAT is a quadruple threat with her dancing, singing, writing abilities and the ideal image, which makes it effortless for her to connect with her audience. KAT has the work ethic, maturity, and the crossover appeal necessary to not only make it in this hard business, but to do so on an international level.

This her latet Album: 9 Lives
(I think she's like a CAT)

9 Lives Review

With four years of opera training behind her, it's clear that 19-year-old pop singer Kat DeLuna -- who was born in the Bronx, spent several years in Santo Domingo, and eventually returned to the U.S. -- wasn't signed merely on the basis of her looks and passable ability to carry a tune. Her debut, 9 Lives , features credible streaks of dancehall, Latin pop, Euro-pop, modern R&B, freestyle and yes, (albeit to a much lesser extent) opera as well. To DeLuna (who co-wrote everything) and her producer RedOne's credit, the album never quite sounds calculated or unnatural. While appealing multicultural/genre-crossing pop is nothing new, and a few tracks here are boilerplate and lack bite, DeLuna's controlled exuberance, ability to adapt to numerous styles, and considerable vocal ability keep it all afloat. The week the album was rel , had already been on the Hot 100 chart for two months, and it's the album's definite center, though a handful of potential singles could break the mainstream pop singles chart while approaching the tops of the dance, R&B, and Latin charts. On the surface, it might seem like she's an exceptionally talented singer who happened to strike at the right time with the right sound, but the majority of 9 Lives makes it known that she should be around for some time. ~ Andy Kellman, All Music Guide

[New Artis] Ellen Page : "Almost Adopted Songs"

Juno star Ellen Page sings on a track appearing on the upcoming second volume of the movie's soundtrack, Juno B-Sides: Almost Adopted Songs.

The Oscar-nominated actress sings ''Zub Zub,'' a song written by the movie's Oscar-winning screenwriter,
Diablo Cody, for a scene that was cut from the final edit for time. Page's character laments her predicament with lines like ''he filled me with baby batter, then we ate some orange tic tacs after.'' Director Jason Reitman recalls shooting the scene: ''I just remember directing with my daughter strapped to my chest in a BabyBjorn [baby carrier] and the whole crew watching on as Ellen noodled around on guitar,'' he told Reuters. The 15-track album will debut exclusively through iTunes on April 8 before releasing through all digital music retailers on May 13. There are no plans for a physical release.

The Moldy Peaches' Kimya Dawson is back with two songs, including a cover of ''All I Want Is You,'' as are Barry Louis Polisar, Belle and Sebastian, and Buddy Holly. The record also contains songs by Yo La Tengo, Jr. James & The Late Guitar, the Bristols, Trio Los Panchos, and Astrud Gilberto.

Juno B-Sides: Almost Adopted Songs
, a sequel to the chart-topping Juno soundtrack, will be released on April 8 as an iTunes exclusive before hitting other digital retailers in May. "None of these songs made the movie, but they are all essential members of the Junoverse," says Juno director Jason Reitman, who will pay dearly for coining the term "Junoverse." Dearly.

Along with the Kimya Dawson and Belle & Sebastian ditties you'd expect to find in the refuse of the "Junoverse." We'll also get the chance to hear "Zub Zub," a song written by Oscar-winning pariah Diablo Cody. Here's the deleted "Zub Zub" scene, with some sextra wit at the end (like the word
sextra? Don't use it, its in my screenplay).

[Best Band] Paramore:That's What You Get Music Video DOWNLOAD Lyric & Latest Photo

Paramore is a Grammy-nominated American pop rock band that formed in Franklin, Tennessee in 2004. After several lineup changes, Paramore now primarily consists of Hayley Williams (lead vocals/keyboard), Josh Farro (lead guitar/backing vocals), Jeremy Davis (bass guitar), and Zac Farro (drums).

For the latest album is 'Misery Business' .Single released 11 February 2008.My first introduction to Paramore was on NME’s website with their 'Crush Crush Crush' video, and I was blown away. The music is good, by today’s damn-kids-standards it's really good. On top of that, the lyrics are excellent, and Hayley’s voice and singing talent is … spectactular. You don’t often get a voice that can so successfully lead melody against hard-rock guitar playing, and she does consistently through all of their songs that I’ve heard.
'Misery Business' – its good (maybe not as good as Crush Crush Crush) for sure. A bit of Alanis in there maybe? But once again Hayley – well done.
Fine – now my final word – Josh, Jeremy, and Zac – enjoy it while it lasts; she’s going to eventually leave you behind as all great stars must.

Music Video : That's What You Get

Oh! Lyrics
No sir
Well I don't wanna be the blame, not anymore
It's your turn to take a seat
We're settling the final score
And why do we like to hurt so much?
I can't decide
You have made it harder just to go on
And why, all the possibilities
Well I was wrong
That's what you get when you let your heart win, woah
That's what you get when you let your heart win, woah
I drowned out all my sense with the sound of its beating
And that's what you get when you let your heart win, woah
I wonder
How am I supposed to feel when you're not here?
Cuz I've burned every bridge I ever built
When you were here
I still try
Holding on to silly things, I never learn
Oh why, all the possibilities
I'm sure you've heard
That's what you get when you let your heart win, woah
That's what you get when you let your heart win, woah
I drowned out all my sense with the sound of its beating (beating)
And that's what you get when you let your heart win, woah
Pain, make your way to me, to me
And I'll always be just so inviting (so inviting)
If I ever start to think straight
This heart will start a riot in me
Let's start, start - hey!
Why do we like to hurt so much?
Oh, why do we like to hurt so much?
That's what you get when you let your heart win, woah
That's what you get when you let your heart win, woah
That's what you get when you let your heart win, woah
Now I can't trust myself with anything but this
And that's what you get when you let your heart win, woah

Taylor Swift - Picture To Burn [MV & Review]

Review: Taylor Swift, “Picture to Burn”

I think this is going to be a crystallizing record for Taylor Swift. It’s been selling briskly as a download long before it was ever released as a single, and it speaks more directly to the teenage audience than anything she’s released so far. That’s going to make it a huge hit for her.

However, for those who have been barely stomaching the MySpace teenybopper element of Swift’s music, this might be the record that turns them off completely. It’s so relentlessly adolescent, right down to her “nyah nyah nyah” vocal delivery, that her big revenge song ends up sounding like a kiddie version of “Before He Cheats.”

By the time she warned that her Daddy will beat him up if comes by the house again, I was done. I’m too old for this now, and I wouldn’t have enjoyed it when I actually was a teenager. I’ll check in again once her life experience catches up with her songwriting ability.

[Interview] The Veronicas :Twin sisters Twin Attach!

Just to clear things up, the Veronicas are twin sisters from Brisbane, Australia, and have nothing to do with Archie Comics' raven-haired rich-girl Veronica Lodge or teen TV sleuth Veronica Mars.

In fact, neither of them is even named Veronica, nor do they know anyone with the name, all of which kind of begs the question: Why go with "the Veronicas" anyway?

"The name is something we thought about for a long time, and we wanted it to be a girl's name, but we didn't want it to be 'the Jesses,' " guitarist Jess Origliasso laughed. "We were very conscious of not wanting to make it a twin thing, because we think that's really tacky."

"We didn't want it to be called 'the Lisas,' either," singer Lisa Origliasso added. "So one day we saw the movie 'Heathers,' and there's a line where one girl asks, 'Are you a Heather?' and Winona Ryder's character answers, 'No, I'm a Veronica,' and so we went with that, because she was this kind of cool, unique chick with an attitude."

And attitude is one thing the Veronicas have in spades. At the age of 5, the Origliasso sisters enrolled in an after-school musical theatre club, but after a few years of toiling away in low-budget revues of "Godspell" and "Hair," they ditched the club and decided to get serious. They took private voice lessons and for the next several years put in time playing gigs in Brisbane and around Australia's Gold Coast

"We were getting tired of just doing nothing, and we figured that there was no better way to get experience than getting out there in front of people when you're that young," Jess said. "We were just kind of thrust out there and forced to make it

By the time they were 14, the sisters were playing covers of Elvis and Roy Orbison tunes, and making an honest-to-goodness living on the Australian festival circuit. And when Jess got a guitar for her 18th birthday, the Veronicas began banging out original songs, brief three-chord blurts that eventually found their way into the right hands. By the time they were 19, the Origliasso sisters had signed Engine Room, the Australian production team responsible for making the Vines bright (yet fleeting) international stars.

"They take Australian talent overseas, develop it and try to get a major label to pick them up," Lisa explained. "So we were really lucky to sign with them. They sent us over the top."

Or, more precisely, they sent them all around the world, to work with pop maestros like Sweden's Max Martin (Britney Spears, 'NSYNC) and Germany's Toby Gad (Milli Vanilli, Enrique Iglesias). And, after a year on the road, the Veronicas returned home with more than 60 songs and a contract with Sire Records.

Now, having just turned 20, they're prepping their debut album, The Secret Life of ... the Veronicas, a slippery, shiny mix of angsty lyrics and guitar solos, and they've just been tapped by Calvin Klein to be the faces of the designer's fall fashion campaign. It's the beginning stages of a full-fledged rock-and-roll invasion, and it's a whole lot cooler than anything their friends back in Brisbane are currently up to.

"We used to be jealous of all our friends who were just taking it easy while we were rehearsing and stuff," Lisa said. "But now were playing gigs while they're working at Mackey's."

"They don't say 'Mackey's' over here," Jess pointed out.

"Oh, right. Sorry. 'Mackey's' is Micky D's, McDonald's," Lisa laughed. "Sorry about that. That was my Australianess coming out."

[Music Video] The latest MV :This Love

[New Album Review] Hook Me Up

There is an old clichĂ© phrase I was once taught that said: “If you go into something thinking it’s going to be bad, then it’s going to be bad. However, if you go into something with a positive attitude, then it will turn out well”. I would now like to condemn whoever it was that taught me this. On the back of the highly infectious title track/lead single, I was genuinely excited for the new album from former tween sensations The Veronicas, Hook Me Up. With any luck it wouldn’t be like their previous effort, The Secret Life Of…, which became incredibly lacklustre after the first four tracks (all of which, must be pointed out, were commercially released singles).

So, upon listening to the album, the questions have to be put. Is the album better than its predecessor? The answer is yes. Does it feature a new sound and direction for the Orglissano twins? Yes again. But have the Veronicas made a great album because of this? Sadly, no. Far from it. Hook Me Up is a disappointing album, filled with half-baked ideas and ignoring its potential to be a great pop album- or, even, a great dance album.

“Untouched” is an admittedly great opening track, featuring everything that is good about this album. A bizarre alt-pop wave of synths, string section sampling and dissonant guitar, with motor-mouth vocals in the verse, leading up to a great hook in the chorus. This fades out and right into “Hook Me Up”, the lead single and easily the best song on the album. At first, chances are you may not like it (I know that when I first heard it, I hated it). But the best thing about this song is how damn infectious it is, thus making it an excellent pop song with top harmonies and a synth hook Hellogoodbye would be envious of. The one-two punch of this song and the title track prove how good this album could have been. Unfortunately, it’s mostly downhill from here.

The next two tracks either suffer from trying to be too much at once (“This Is How It Feels”), and generally not going anywhere (“This Love”). It’s certainly a departure from the guitar pop-rock of their previous album, but it appears not all change is good in this case. As the album progresses from here, you can’t help but get the feeling that the band really need to pull a rabbit out of their hat. And while they certainly come close to it- “I Can’t Stay Away” features some lively beats, and “All I Have” features come catchy moments, live drums (exactly what this album needed more of), and some very cool use of a vocoder- but there is just too much filler and lazy song writing. Songs like “I Don’t Wanna Wait” and “In Another Life” both have great potential, but the best parts of the song aren’t furthered to make for a better overall.

And then there’s “Popular”- what can be said about this one? Basically, if Peaches went out and got completely hammered with Princess Superstar and they managed to have some kind of inbred lovechild with “Best Damn Thing”-era Avril Lavigne as the midwife, it would probably come out sounding something like this. And believe me, this is definitely not a compliment. Talking about the song, the girls say that the song is “taking the piss out of famous people”. However, in a similar vein to Good Charlotte atrocity “I Just Wanna Live”, you simply cannot tell and it comes off as vain and cheap.

It’s good that, at the very least, the Veronicas have gone for something different from the pop market at the moment. But it’s a bitter letdown that, even after all this change, most of the songs just aren’t very good. Not even the fantastic single can save this one. A pity, really, given how good this album could have been.

For fans only- though chances are you may not be much of a fan after this record, even if you were before.

[Interview] Counting Crows talk to latest album & DOWNLOADS

Fourteen years ago this month, Counting Crows burst onto the music scene with the hook-laden single Mr Jones and the multi-platinum album, August And Everything After.

Their latest CD is split into two distinct parts - the angry, rock of Saturday Nights and the laid-back folk vibes of Sunday Mornings.

Lead singer Adam Duritz talks about his fight to get the record released, insomnia, and getting angry with fans.

The album was originally supposed to come out last November - did you have trouble finishing it?

Not at all. It's been done since last June. We pulled the record ourselves because the label didn't have any idea of how to put it out.

What happened?

There's this massive invention that allows everyone to reach everyone else in the entire world for free. It's called the internet and I was trying to explain that to the record label.

I wanted to put out a free "digital 45" - one song from each side of the record - to get the idea of the album's two different themes out there.

So the label didn't like the idea?

Well, they said no. So we pulled the record - and believe me they weren't happy with losing a Christmas release.

You eventually got your way. Do you think the tactic worked?

Put it this way - I got an email from a guy I know at Apple a month before the album was available, and the pre-sale version was at number eight on iTunes.

There was no single, we hadn't done any press at that point, there was no reason for us to be that high on the charts - except we did all this online stuff.

I don't know about the record business, but the music industry is not dead. It's a great time to be in a band because there's a tool that allows you to reach everyone for free.

You adopted the internet very early on [Duritz has kept an online diary for years]. Are you ever overwhelmed by the number of fans? Presumably some of them are a bit obsessive.

We have big arguments! You know, I promised them at the very beginning that I would be honest about everything and that meant that when I got angry with them, I would write angry stuff and we would have huge fights!

Has there ever been a point when you've thought: "I can't take this anymore" and decided to stop writing to people on the website?"

No, but there was about a year when I either began or ended every diary entry with "some of you are very unpleasant people!"

It began because I've been a good friend of the actress Mary Louise-Parker [Weeds, The West Wing] since we were kids. Someone from her fan club wrote to our site asking if anyone would like to raise money to buy a star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame for her, and she just got savaged by our fans.

They laid into this poor girl who was, you know, just like them. She was somebody's fan. So I just ranted at them on every post - even the nice ones.

I'd write something beautiful like: "Everything is possible and your dreams can come true. By the way, some of you are very unpleasant people, love Adam."

Do you still suffer from insomnia?

I've always had problems - I have a dissociative disorder, which makes the world seem like it's not real. And when the world doesn't seem real, it can be really scary to let go and give up even more of it. So sleep has always been something of a problem.

It's particularly hard for me because of the gigs. A gig is like doing a workout that ends at 11:30. I don't get home 'til after one and I'm wired. So touring really adds to my insomnia.

Does it affect your writing?

A lot of my songs are about isolation and certainly that sensation is never quite as strong as it is in the middle of the night. But I've written a lot of songs in the daylight, too.

You're coming over to headline the Wireless Festival in UK this year - are you excited?

Oh yeah, that's cool. Headlining in Hyde Park? That's pretty cool.

We made our career in Europe by playing festivals, so I have a lot of love and reverence for those shows.

What's your favourite festival memory?

In the 1990s, we spent a whole summer where our end of the day ritual was to meet the guys from Gomez at the side of the stage and smoke cigarettes and drink cans of beer and watch Oasis.

Noel Gallagher is a genius. Those songs are great, and they're loud and they're fun. That's a really good way to spend the end of the day.
