[Review] RICK ROSS BOSS Ft. T-PAIN : TRILLA Att.MV & DOWNLOADS

Rick Ross - Trilla
Album Review by: John Burnett

I've come to a disheartening and perplexing conclusion. I—like many rap heads—am addicted to crack rap. After mad years of hearing the same embellished Tony Montana motifs play out over different beats I still enjoy hearing properly executed rhymes about the wanton exploits of your respective neighborhood medicine man. And judging from the sales that are attached to some of these coke-laden rap discs, so do you. The narrator on this occasion happens to be Rick Ross and the cinematic experience is Trilla.

Based off of Port of Miami, I predicted two things for what I’d hear on Trilla. There was going to be some dope beats and probably a few (much sarcasm intended) references to coke. I was right about both but there was also an added bonus. Coming out on the back end, I’ve come to the realization either Rick Ross acquired an ill ghostwriter or dude’s flow has vastly improved. On the Bink! produced (and eerily Roc-A-Fella nostalgia inducing) “We Shinin’” I caught a surprise blow to the chin by the quote “am I a target for police because I puff E/not an artist I’m regarded as a Puffy/like a pimp I’mma skip past a Kim Porter/like a pimp order, pimp, I import her.” I mean this is Rick Ross right? The flow doesn’t fall off either with Ross tucked neatly between the church-like organs and wailing sample. Then there’s the literal gangster role call provided on the “Trilla Intro” where Ross oddly proclaims he’s rhyming with kush and lean on his breath. In the most sinister way possible Ross gruffly barks “I don’t give a fuck about death/cause death don’t give a fuck about flesh/cause flesh don’t give a fuck about mine/and never gave fuck about mine.”

4 Minutes Review and Download Now!!![Madonna Ft. Justin Timberlake & Timberland

Review

It doesn't take anywhere close to '4 Minutes' to realize that Madonna is poised to score her first top 10 hit since 2005's 'Hung Up.' The launch single from upcoming 'Hard Candy'-her 11th and final studio album for Warner Bros.-co-stars Justin Timberlake, with production props from Timbaland. There's an awful lot going on in the busy dance track: sing-song verses, insistent foghorns, cowbells, chants of "tick-tock" and "Madonna, Madonna," and a rap from Timbaland-but the trade-off chorus between Madge and Justin of "We've only got four minutes to save the world" is hooky enough unto itself to sell the song. "4" qualifies as an event record between superpowers who not only share equal billing, but sound gangbusters together. Expect instantaneous penetration for this spring break '08 anthem.

TOKYO (Hollywood Reporter) - A ballad from Madonna's upcoming album will provide the theme music for a new Japanese television show, the first time the pop diva has licensed a tune for a TV drama here.

The song, "Miles Away," will be used for the show "Change," which is scheduled to begin airing in April. It is taken from Madonna's "Hard Candy" album, which is set for release here April 30.

The show stars local heartthrob Takuya Kimura in the tale of a small-town elementary school teacher who is suddenly -- if improbably -- propelled into the position of prime minister of Japan. Madonna met Kimura when she appeared as a guest on the his "SMAPxSMAP" variety show in 2005.

Usher tops singles chart for third week

NEW YORK (Billboard) - Usher's "Love in This Club" featuring Young Jeezy begins a third week at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 amid a static top 4 that includes Chris Brown's "With You" (No. 2), Flo Rida's "Low" featuring T-Pain (No. 3) and Sara Bareilles' "Love Song" (No. 4).

Also unchanged from Thursday from the previous week are Rihanna's "Don't Stop the Music" (No. 5), Jordin Sparks' "No Air" featuring Chris Brown (No. 6) and Ray J and Yung Berg's "Sexy Can I" (No. 7), which is the chart's fastest-growing track on radio.

U.K. phenomenon Leona Lewis scores her first top 10 hit on the Hot 100 as "Bleeding Love" zooms from No. 21 to No. 8. Digital sales of the former U.K. No. 1 single more than doubled to 120,000.

Timbaland's "Apologize" featuring OneRepublic slides one rung to No. 9, while Lupe Fiasco's "Superstar" featuring Matthew Santos holds at No. 10 to round out the top tier.

Rapper Lil Mama's "Shawty Get Loose" makes the biggest jump on the Hot 100 this year with an explosion from No.92 to No. 19. The track, which features Chris Brown and T-Pain, sold 72,000 downloads during the week, good enough for a No. 9 debut on Hot Digital Songs.

The week's top debut is Danity Kane's "Damaged" at No. 64, which sold 31,000 downloads. The girl group's album "Welcome to the Dollhouse" is in contention to debut at No. 1 on the next Billboard 200.
