Sex And The City Soundtrack
SEX AND THE CITY SOUNDTRACK. New pop that's stylish, but uneven, from Fergie, India.Arie, Jennifer Hudson and others. In stores now.The musical accompaniment to the Sex and the City film combines lots of different genres into a soundtrack that is both fun party music and equally as fun to listen to all by your lonesome. The soundtrack runs the spectrum of artists from classy acts like Jennifer Hudson and Nina Simone to cutting edge tracks supplied by House music star Kaskade and the quirky duo The Bird and The Bee.
If all the artists on this album got together for a Sex and the City-style cocktail party, it would be quite the hip and stylish affair. With uptown chic songs from Jennifer Hudson ("All Dressed In Love") and Bliss ("Kissing") juxtaposed with a subtle version of "Auld Lang Syne" from Mairi Campbell and Dave Francis and the timeless rap "Walk this Way" from Aerosmith and Run D.M.C., the album covers many moods, all blending together to make for an audio celebration. India.Arie's cover of the Don Henley favorite "Heart of the Matter" proves even better than the original, with a controlled emotion and exquisite vocals that make it one of the highlights of the album. It would have been nice to hear a few more "girlfriend" themed songs about friendship, but as a collection, the album's variety keeps the party from ever becoming boring.

[New Artis] Ellen Page : "Almost Adopted Songs"
Juno star Ellen Page sings on a track appearing on the upcoming second volume of the movie's soundtrack, Juno B-Sides: Almost Adopted Songs.
The Oscar-nominated actress sings ''Zub Zub,'' a song written by the movie's Oscar-winning screenwriter, Diablo Cody, for a scene that was cut from the final edit for time. Page's character laments her predicament with lines like ''he filled me with baby batter, then we ate some orange tic tacs after.'' Director Jason Reitman recalls shooting the scene: ''I just remember directing with my daughter strapped to my chest in a BabyBjorn [baby carrier] and the whole crew watching on as Ellen noodled around on guitar,'' he told Reuters. The 15-track album will debut exclusively through iTunes on April 8 before releasing through all digital music retailers on May 13. There are no plans for a physical release.
The Moldy Peaches' Kimya Dawson is back with two songs, including a cover of ''All I Want Is You,'' as are Barry Louis Polisar, Belle and Sebastian, and Buddy Holly. The record also contains songs by Yo La Tengo, Jr. James & The Late Guitar, the Bristols, Trio Los Panchos, and Astrud Gilberto.
Juno B-Sides: Almost Adopted Songs, a sequel to the chart-topping Juno soundtrack, will be released on April 8 as an iTunes exclusive before hitting other digital retailers in May. "None of these songs made the movie, but they are all essential members of the Junoverse," says Juno director Jason Reitman, who will pay dearly for coining the term "Junoverse." Dearly.
Along with the Kimya Dawson and Belle & Sebastian ditties you'd expect to find in the refuse of the "Junoverse." We'll also get the chance to hear "Zub Zub," a song written by Oscar-winning pariah Diablo Cody. Here's the deleted "Zub Zub" scene, with some sextra wit at the end (like the word sextra? Don't use it, its in my screenplay).
