Jay Sean is back, fresh from scooping two awards at the UK Asian Music Awards 2008, with new single "Maybe" to follow his smash hit "Ride It", out on 2Point9/Jayded April 21st.
A smooth, mid-tempo slab of olde skool, 80`s pure groove R`n`B, it`s produced by teenage West London production crew Sampson Productions.
Jay has taken the creative reigns with his new album - My Own Way - after a falling out with his record company. At first I didn't feel that it was a good move, but after the first two singles being very solid, maybe it was a good idea after all.
Maybe is another contemporary R&B track that shows off Jay's ability to compete with a very American dominated market. The video is pretty standard & serves the track well, although I liked his last single - Ride It - a little more than this one, it is still a great tune.
The UK scene has come on leaps & bounds over the last 6 - 12 months & it is a really exciting time to be a part of the new sound. With Bassline & UK R&B exploding into the national charts, things can only get better.
