The Last Shadow Puppets release their new single 'My Mistakes Were Made For You' on Monday the 20th of October 2008. Taken from their Mercury nominated 'The Age Of The Understatement' album, 'My Mistakes Were Made For You' features the London Metropolitan Orchestra, conducted by Owen Pallet.
The video for 'My Mistakes Were Made For You' was shot at Pinewood studios and directed by Richard Ayoade. It shows the leather-clad duo in the forest amidst fog and the tailights of a crashed car.
The Last Shadow Puppets’ Understatement
Cinematic maneuvers in my brain and wild horses. Widescreen audio. Rumbling drums. Gainsbourg-like orchestrations. Room to wander. Ecstatic backing voices. The London touch of symphonia. Bigger drums. Offenders.
I don’t think anyone would have expected these collected guys, known as The Last Shadow Puppets, to produce a work like The Age Of the Understatement. Although on second thought, maybe not based upon the hyperkinetics of The Arctic Monkeys. But hey, what about their clever songs and witty lyrics?
The boys with different strategiesTalking about an understatementOnly the truth they reckon they hold
